Technical Requirements

for online interactive micro expression training modules:
Micro Facial Expressions Training Tool, Subtle Facial Expressions Training Tool, Micro Profile Facial Expressions Training Tool, Micro Facial Expressions Intensive Training Tool

These training modules are accessed via web browser. Nothing is downloaded or shipped.

We support both Windows and Apple operating systems:
Apple OSX
Windows 7 or later
We do not support Windows XP
Independent users have reported success with Linux, however we do not support Linux.

A consistent high-quality internet connection is required for the duration of the training. There are a lot of assets to each of the tools, and some features may not work at slower connection speeds.

All modules run on desktop or laptop computer. Select modules run on tablet, see below.

For Micro Facial Expressions Training Tool and Subtle Facial Expressions Training Tool, most devices are supported (Computer, tablet, phone*), including mobile iOS (iPhone*, iPad)
For Micro Profile Facial Expressions Training Tool and Micro Facial Expressions Intensive Training Tool, you must use a computer. Tablets and phones are not supported.
*Note on phones: We strongly recommend doing the training on screens larger than 7 inches. Otherwise, the facial images will be too small to be useful for learning micro or mini expressions.

For Micro Profile Facial Expressions Training Tool and Micro Facial Expressions Intensive Training Tool, you must have an updated Flash Player. Here is a link to determine your Flash Player version:

All recent browsers are supported. Older versions (e.g. Internet Explorer 8) are not supported.


Troubleshooting Guide

First, please make sure you have the requirements described above for the tool you are using.

It is best to have no other application running when you use our training programs, and only one browser window open.

If you experience any inconsistency, we recommend that you clear your browser cache and cookies and then try again. You shouldn’t need to delete your browser history. Here are instructions:

For other inconsistency issues, sometimes trying a different browser helps.

We have not tested for usability with all combinations of browser extensions and add-ons. Try disabling add-ons or resetting your browser to default settings.
